I enclose a further copy of a telegraa which we have received from the Governor,

Hong Kong, pressing for the retention of e number of landing craft in the Colony, and for the allocation of the nece sery men to man and maintain them.

The telegran, as you will see, wAD addressed to the British efence Comittee in South East Asia, and no doubt you will soon be hearing from then on the subject. should, however, like to make it clear now that we fully support the Governor's recommendations. The reason why the

Governor wants the craft is explained in the H..ng Kong efence Committee Appreciation mentioned in (A) of the telegram. This Appreciation was supported by the outh Fest Aala romittes, and la also supported by us. The Hong Kong Committee in the passaɛeu referred to say that there in a definite

risk of attacking strength by Chinese warlords and guerillas on the Colony, and that the retention

of the craft mentined in the telegram for combined op:rations is therfore essential.
