The Defence Committee approved the policy recommended
by the Chiefs of Str IT.

In recrncidering the original report by the Joint Planning Strar, the Chiefs f Straf instructed the Joint Planning Staff to review their paper, and ande the suo tions that:-

(r) The defence policy was now that Hong Kong
should be regarded as an undofonded port as far a fized defences were concerned. (The J.P. neper, it was thought, vịs not quite in keeping with this decision).
