The City and Port of 8r Ishn, situated at the south of the to Sohee river New Brunswied was formerly provided with defensive works Consisting of Dorchester Battery on the point below the town, and two other batteries near it, in which were mounted a number of Bworth bored ques_ On Partridge Soland, which is in the bay about 3000 yards in prout of Borchester Battery, there was a battery surrounding the lighthouse, also containing several muworth bored guns. On the western side of the entrance to the harbour a battery had been commenced on Alegro point for 10 guns, but it was not nor anned. In year of this batting Completed nor at a distame of about 1400 yards stood a Martells Tower, and near it on the site,
