Lt. Commander J. Jolly, Harbour Master Hong Kong called on Mr. Mayle to-day (153 and referred to a Report which he had sent to this office under registered cover on the 15th November and which he said had been unacknowledged. Lt. Commander Jolly said that he had enclosed seven copies of this Report which gave details of casualties in the Marine Department, details of ships sunk in the harbour and a daily diary of happenings during the period before the surrender of Hong Kong, etc. He said that a number or widows of officers in his Department had had no official intimation of the deaths of their husbands which he had supposed the Colonial Office would have given them on the strength or his official Report. Commander Jolly said that he had subsequenth written to enquire whether these Reports had been received and had a postcard acknowledgement to his letter but no reference to the Reports themselves.
I have not seen this Report myself but Mr. Wodeman has a recollection of a Report which referred to happenings in Hong Kong which might have been Commander Jolly's. Thai macbably kirelated by song, sikter Repartment.
