B.D. Edmondą

The following is an extract from a personal letter dated 30th January from Wing Commander M.N. Oxford who is acting in charge of Air Services in Hong Kong.

"I enclose a letter for Owen Hamilton, whose address is not known here and shall be grateful if you will send it an to him. He was Marine Supervisor in the Directorate of Air Services and is no doubt on your books. I should like him baok as soon as he is willing to cons and have asked Danby to send you a telegram to this effect. I do not want to hurry

him if he needs a long leave but I am going to be short of staff and it would be useful if he could be here in May. When Moss left in December he said he will be away for a year and I am very willing to carry on as long as he likes to stay away, but I shall need some help as the planning of Ping Shan will take up a lot of my time, O.N.A.0. are now handling 500 passengers a month and the other Chinese company is about to start. is as yet no sign of any British airlines wanting to come this way but we hope Lord Knollys, who should now be in Singapore, will come here to tell us what 3.0.A.C intend to do.

There

I have also suggested that Hamilton should be attached to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for four weeks or so in order that he can get up to date and I hope that you will be able to arrange this.

I particularly want him to see modern flying control methods and to spend a few days at civil airports, such as Hurn and Heath Row and at B.O.A.0's min flying boat base.

Selwyn Halls arrived on 28th December and I have engaged locally an ex-airman, who wanted to remain in Hong Kong. R. A. F. Headquarters received a peculiar telegram from the Air
