some thirty months. It has not yet been
possible to reach a decision on the question of
the construction of such an airport in Hong Kong,
but even if it is decided to proceed with its
construction, there nevertheless remains the
need for rehabilitating Kai Tak to such a degree
that it can accept the air services which are
likely to be operated into Hong Kong in the
future. These air services include services
operated by the Chinese corporations C.A.T.C.
Kai
and C.N.A.C., a R.A.F. Transport Command service; and possibly a B.O.A.C. flying bout service.
Tak is, of course, only suitable for light aircraft

up to the standard of a Dakota, but it is the only
airport which can be used at the moment and if
services are to be accepted, it is urgently
necessary for authority to be given for a minimum
expenditure of £12,000 to allow for the repair of
the marine terminal building, the construction of
4,000 sq. yds. hard standing, 1,200 yds. of tarmac
roadway and various incidentals such as electric
cables.
