In ar ofice "elerrar No. 126 of the 18th lay timed 182300 expenditure of £12,000 was approved for the reconstruction of the Marino Terminal Building at Kai Wak aerodrome. lectric power is necessary for radio and other purposes but the underground cable was removed during the occupation and the lcetricity Company is not prepared to replace it, unless Government roots the cost which is ▸ stimated at $34,500. When the original estimate was submitted it was not realised that the Company would not be mepared to provide the connection.

2.

The question of using duplicate diesel enorators instead of the aing Supply has been investituted but my advisers strongly recomend supply from the ains on the round of greater steadiness and reliability. It has not been possible to obtain from the Military Authorities any information regarding the selling price of those onerators but the operating costs are estimated at $3,500 a month while current supplied from the Naing would only cost some 300 a month. It would also be necessary to erect a building in which to house the encralors so on the whole it is clearly preferable to connect up with the Hains Supply.

5. The Licctricity Company is under no legal oblation to provide a connection at their expensa where this is abnormally exportive and I terefore request that the necessary additional expendi tum. artaunting to 234,500 may be authorised. It would to convenient if your decision could be holographed to re as early as possible as I an anxious to avoid any interruption in the work which is now proce: din: on the reconditioning of the buildin;• The cable would of course remain the property of the Government and if at some later lato further development vere to take place in this area the Company would no dout t be prepared to take over the cable at a valuation.
