An Office meeting was held on the 10th
December to discuss the airfield projects for Hong
Kong.
The following were present:
Mr. J.B. Williams
Mr. Mayle
Mr. Megson
Mr. Emanuel
Mr. Vile
Mr. Wilson.
The meeting considered the two airfield
projects for Hong Kong that of Deep Bay, which is
to cost £4 million, and that of Stonecutter's Island,
which is to cost £11 million and the various ways
in which the expenditure involved was to be met.
It was pointed out that an M.C.A. Mission was
proceeding to China in January to discuss an air
agreement with the Chinese and that, should they be
successful in obtaining an agreement and in finding
the Chinese airfield at White Cloud, Canton, to be
suitable as a staging post in the service to Japan,
they would not have very much interest in Hong Kong.
