I have not been able to discover from

the Air Ministry that any serious doubt is felt there bout the suitability of Kai Tak airport as a result of a recent accident to an R.A.F. Transport Command Dakota there. I understand that in any case the proceed ngs of the Court of Enquiry which was held after the accident have not yet been received, and that it is therefore too early to expect to receive any firm reaction from the air Ministry.

On the more general question of the suitability of Kai Tak, A.M.3.0. was instructed during his recent visit to Hong Kong to consider this point, and he may have views on it upon his return. Ill these circumstances, I think we shall have to let the point rest for tile moment and send of the draft note as it stands. I have accordingly written to Mo. Dunnett as on the flimsy opposite.
