Siting of Transmittor and Receiver Stations in Hong Kong.
With reference to the Minutes of the Special W/T Board Mooting held on 23th February 1946; in a signal dated 10th April the Chairman of Hong Kong Communications Board has made the following comments on the W/T Board recomendations
(1) W/T Board minutes were discussed by the Hong Kong Communications
Board, the Board has also made some progress in investigating possiblo sitos.

(v)
(vi)
The Hong Kong Communications Board view with concern the W/T Board requirements for sites of 250 acres each, and this will prove to be the unjor difficulty in finding suitable sites.
The original plans for the airfield at Ping Shan have now been abandoned but the Civil Authorities are still considering an airfield in the Doop Bay area, and the siting of the W/T stations may be affected by the position of this airfield. In any event the plans for the W/T stations are bound to be influenced by the ropercussions from the rcquisitiɔning of land. Every acro of flat ground is required for food production.
Experience has shown that it will be difficult tɔ ɔbtain sitos of any size and for the reas ɔns in (iii) abɔve it will bo nlmost impossible to find sites of 250 acres. Therefore it scems to be inevitable that the requirements must be reduced or alternatively that a system for cach individual aerial array of wide band amplifiors for receivors end Multi-channelling
for transmitters be adoptod in order to reduce the mumber of arrays.
We consider that (4) a decision on the sites must be reached befɔre there is any wɔre plaming (3) bocause of local conditions the W/T Stations must be planned to fit the sites and not vice versa.
Therefore we suggest that any possible action tɔ hasten (v) (ji) in particular, be taken by the W/T Dɔard, and that any W/Ì Bɔdrá rocɔmendations or ducisions bo comunicated to the chiefs of staff ɔr Cɔlɔnial Office, as appropriate, so that they may advise tho Goverment of Hong Kong (lircot thereby easisting the Hong Kɔng Communication Boarl's activitics.
