Dear Sanderson,
With reference to our discussions about rice for Hong Kong, the following is an extract from a telegram which I have received from the war Office this morning. The message is from the Commander- in-Chief, Hong Kong, and appears to be dated the 20th February. The extract is as follows:-
"Times report of January 31st referring to surfeit of food and commodities in Hong Kong has been read with bitter amusement.
Rice ration cut to eight ounces last week in face of dwindling supplies and prospects."
I think this speaks for itself.
Yours sincerely,
H.L. SANDERSON, ESQ.,
MINISTRY OF FOOD.
