In pursuance of the powers vested in me under Article 1 of Proclamation No. 16 -Military Administration (Delegation) and in conformity with the powers vested in the Governor in Council by Section 29 of the Waterworks Ordinance 1938. I. DAVID MERCER MACDOUGALL, C.M.G., Brigadier, Chief Civil Affairs Officer, HEREBY MAKE the following Order:--

1. Appendix I-Price of Water of the Regulations made under Section 29 of the said Waterworks Ordinance, 1938, and contained in the Schedule thereto is amended by the substitution of the rates hereinafter contained for the rates therein specified between the end of the definition of "domestic purposes" and the heading "Surcharges".

The price of water per unit of 1,000 gallons shall be-

(1) for filtered water

(a) for construction or shipping purposes

per unit $1.20

(b) for trade or domestic purposes, supplied-

(i) to any premises or place in the Peak District as defined

in the Peak District (Residence) Ordinance, 1918...... (ii) to any premises or place in the Island of Hong Kong except the Peak District, to which the water is pumped

(iii) to such military areas as the Governor in Council

may determine

(c) except as set out in paragraphs (a) and (b)

(2) for unfiltered water

(a) for construction purposes

(b) for all other purposes

2. The said rates shall take effect as from the 1st of April, 1946.

NOTIFICATION.

The public is hereby notified that the Acting Chief Civil Affairs Officer, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by a Delegation made and given under the hand of the Chief Civil Affairs Officer and dated the 1st day of March, 1946, and in pursuance of the powers vested upon the Chief Civil Affairs Officer by Article 1 of Proclamation No. 16-Military Administration (Delegation)-and in conformity with Regulation 12 of the Compensation (Defence) Regulations, 1940, has prescribed that compensation payable under such Regulations shall carry interest at the rate of 5% per annum from the date on which it accrues due until payment.
