Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advics and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof,

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Short dick and Ordinance 1980 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed coNEDA. by the Governor by notice in the Gazette.

1. The principal Ordinance is amended in Part TV by adding after Addition of new section 14 the following-

HA. Where the Commissioner makes an attendance order in relation to a registered apprentice, the technical institution specified in the order shall give preference to the registered apprentice, if he has attained the minimum educa- tional requirements for entrance to the course, over other candidates who are not registered apprentices, for positions on the course.”.

Section 17 of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting consent of subsection (1) and substituting the following

"(1) An employer who enters into a contract of apprenticeship that is not required to be registered under section 15(1) or 16(1) may,
