An Ordinance to amend the Stamp Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Stamp (Amendment) (No. 2) Sbort dile and Ordinance 1978 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on the commencecal 2nd March 1978.

2. The Schedule to the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting Amendment of bead 11(2).

3. Nothing in this Ordinance shall be construed as relieving a baok Savios. in respect of any Hability for the payment of duty on unstamped cheques issued by the bank to ili customers prior to the 2nd March 1978, and all amounts collected by a bank under section 15 of the principal Ordinance as duties on such unstamped cheques shall, notwithstanding subsection (IXC) of that section, he paid to the Collector not later than the 31st March 1978:

Provided that the Collector may waive the payment by a bank of any such amount in respect of unstamped cheques shown to his satisfaction to have been returned to the bank by its customers prior to the 2nd March 1978 as spoiled or unused.
