An Ordinance to amend the law relating to gambling,

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof,

PART I

PRELIMINARY

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Gambling Ordinance 1977 Short title and and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the Governor sumusuCOSTAL by notice in the Gazette.

2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires- "bookmaking" means the soliciting, receiving or negotiating of a bel by way of trade or business whether personally of by letter, telephone, telegrum or by any other means;

"Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Police; "gambling" includes gaming, betting and bookmaking;

"gambling equipment" includes playing cards, dice, balls, counters dominoes, tiles, betting slips, lottery tickets, and any other thing which is devised or used or maintained in or for the purposes of or in connexion with gambling or the operation of a gambling establishment;
