An Ordinance to amend the Merchant Shipping (Recruiting of

Seamen) Ordinance.

[2nd February. 1973]

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and

consent of the Legistative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Short utle. (Recruiting of Seamen) (Amendment) Ordinance 1973.

2. Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is amended in subsection (1) by deleting the definition of "seaman“ and sub- stituting the following-

'"seaman" means any person who is, or is to be, engaged for or employed in service at sea in a ship in any capacity other than--

(b) that of mate or engineer, duly certificated for the purposes of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance; (c) that of ship's doctor; and
