An Ordinance to amend the Merchant Shipping Ordinance.
[2nd February, 1973]
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Short title. (Amendment) Ordinance 1973.
2. The principal Ordinance is amended in Part 11 by adding, after section 14, the following new section—
"Removal of discharged
search.
14A. (1) Except with the permission of the master of the ship, no seaman who has been lawfully discharged from his ship shall be or remain on board the ship.
(2) Any seaman who, having been lawfully dis- charged from his ship, does not leave the ship on being requested so to do by the master may be removed from the ship by an authorized officer.
