(b) by inserting after subsection (2) the following new

subsection-

"(3) Any police officer may stop and search any person in a public place in order to ascertain whether or not that person has been guilty of an offence against this section.".

An Ordinance to amend the Wild Birds and Wild Mammals

Protection Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Wild Birds and Wild Mammals Protection (Amendment) Ordinance 1972.

2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting, after the definition of "hunt", the following new defini- tion-

"rodent" means any animal of the order Rodentia except

the Chinese porcupine;".

Section 16 of the principal Ordinance is amended in sub- sections (1) and (2) by inserting, after "justice of the peace," the following
