An Ordinance to consolidate with amendments the law relating
to the status of married persons.
[7th October, 1971.]
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Married Persons Status Ordinance 1970 and shall come into operation on the 7th October 1971.
Short title and Commencement.
2. (1) Save where otherwise appears, this Ordinance applies Application. to persons who are parties to a marriage, whether married before
or after the commencement of this Ordinance,
(2) In subsection (†), “marriage" means—
(4) a marriage celebrated or contracted in accordance with
the provisions of the Marriage Ordinance;
