These by-laws are intended to regulate the operation of the new abattoir at Kennedy Town. They will also apply to such other abattoirs as may be specified in the First Schedule. The By-laws are divided into six Parts.
Part 1 deals with preliminary matters. It includes the definitions and provides for the appointment of authorized officers and for the fees pay- able for services in abattoirs.
Part II deals with the admission of animals to abattoirs including the procedure on adutission, and the powers of managers and authorized officers. Under by-law 12, tags or marks may be put on animals. This is intended for statistical and control purposes and is not related to the provisions in Part III as to the marking of animals with registration numbers for identification purposes.

Part II deals with the slaughter of animals in abattoirs and provides (inter alia) for the allocation of registration numbers to owners for identification purposes.
Part IV deals with the marking of carcases and specified parts of offals which are fit for human consumption and the removal of slaughtered animals from abattoirs.
Part V provides for the maintenance of order in abattoirs and includes powers to exclude persons not having good cause for being in abattoirs.
Part VI contains miscellaneous provisions. Under by-law 44 which is of general application, it is so offence unlawfully to use or imitate the marką which, by virtue of Part IV, may be applied to carcases and offala fit for human consumption.
