Amendment of regulation 44.
Amendment of
Fourth Schedule.
9. Regulation 44 of the principal regulations is amended in paragraph (1) by deleting "paragraph (5) of regulation 19" and substituting therefor the following-
"paragraph (1) of regulation 19".
10. The Fourth Schedule to the principal regulations is deleted and the following Schedule substituted therefor-

Regulation 4 revokes and replaces regulation 23 of the principal regulations and includes in that regulation provision for the calculation of the cylinder capacity of rotary-piston internal combustion engines used in motor vehicles.
Regulation 5 extends the operation of regulation 24 of the principal regulations and regulation 6 amenda regulation 26 to provide for a puro- portionate refund of licence fees in specified circumstances. Regufation 7 amcods regulation 39 of the principal regulation to provide for the regis- tration of rickshaws, sedan chairs, tricycles and trailers for periods of four months. Regulation 8 effects a formal amendment of regulation 42 by deleting references to trailers.
Regulation 9 effecta a formal amendment of regulation 44 of the principal regulations consequential upon the revocation and substitution of regulation 19.
Regulation 10 delates the Fourth Schedule and substitutes therefor a new Schedule setting out the percentages of licence fees that may be refunded on the cancellation of a licence under the amended regulation 26 of the principal regulations.

Explanatory Note.
(This Note is not part of the regulations, but is Intended to indicate their general purport).
Regulation 3 revokes and replaces regulations 19, 20 and 21 of the principal regulations in order la consolidate these provisions dealing with applications for the licensing of motor vehicles. The new regula- tion 19 restricts the periods for which licences may be issued to twelve months and four months and clarifies the law in respect of the renewal of licences. The new regulation 20 consolidates the existing provisions dealing with the licensing of vehicles for use in Lantau. The amendment of regulation 44 is consequential upon the amendment of regulation 19.
