5. QUESTIONS.
Mr. Kan Yuet-kaung, pursuant to notice, will ask the following
questions :*
(1) During the Budget Debate in March 1963, in answer to a point
raised by me concerning the use of the cricket ground the Honourable Colonial Secretary made the following romark :-
"I have no doubt, therefore, that we must cast around for a less central site, and that it is not too early, while thare le still some balance of the lease to mal, to start thinking About whare this ground should be reprovisioned."
(a) Has Government actually given consideration to this
matter since that date.
(b) In the event of a suitable alternative site being
available is it 'Government's intention to affect the exchange immediately rather than to wait until the term of the present lease runa out,
(c) Will Government give this Council the assurance that we
will be kept closely informed of any negotiation and also that we will be consulted before any final decision is taken as to the alternative site?
(a) Will Government further give an assurance that this
Council and other interested bodies will be consulted as to the use to which this ground will be put?
(2) Has Government enquired into the extraordinary circumstances
in which a prisoner recently escaped from custody in the precincts of the Supreme Court whilst the hearing of his appeal was pending and, if so, is Government prepared to make a statement to this Council concerning this occurrence?
(3) When will the Advisory Nomittee on Telephone Serviges is sue
its first report.
