Explanatory Note.
(This Note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general purport).
These regulations by regulation 2 amend the principal regulations by deleting and replacing the Second Schedule with the object of
(a) providing for certain increases in rents in respect of premises in Mark I
Mark II and Mark III Blocks in resellement estates;
(0) defining more clearly the different types of accommodation in resettlement
catates, and
(e) breaking down of the total amount of rents for premises in Mark I and Mark
Il Blocks.
In the case of domestic premises in Mark I, Mark II and Mark III Blocks there has been an increase in the rents consequent upon an increase in water charges. This increase takes effect from the first day on or after the 1st day of July, 1965 upon which rent falls due to be paid.
3. In the case of domestic premises in Mark I and Mark II Blocks there has been a further increase of rents due to an increase in the basic rents for all such premises. Regulation 3 of these regulations provides that the increase in the total rent attributable to an increase in the basic rent and, where applicable the further increase attributable to the payment of rates will become effective on the first date on or after the 1st day of November, 1965 upon which rent falls due to be paid in respect of each premises.
3. In the case of commercial and shop premises there has been no incrERSO either in the basic rent or in the additional sund payable in respect of rates. However the total monthly rent in respect of such premises in Mark I and Mark 11 Blocks has been broken down in the same manner as for premises in Mark III and Mark IV Blocks. A sum attributable to the payment for water charges has been deducted from the existing rent and the basic fent is the existing inclusive rent less the sum payable in respect of water charges. There is no additional sum payable in respect of rates for Commercial and shop premises in Mark I and Mark Ïf Blocks since the basic reat includes a sum in respect of rates.
