19. Section 34 of the principal Ordinance is amended, in subsec- of section 34. tion (2), by the deletion of the words "one thousand dollars" and the

substitution therefor of the following-

20. Section 35 of the principal Ordinance is amended---

(a) in subsection (2)-

() by the deletion of the words "one thousand dollars” and the substitution therefor of the following-

"four thousand dollars"; and

(i) by the deletion of the words "five hundred dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"two thousand dollars"; and

(b) in subsection (4), by the deletion of the words “one thousand

dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"four thousand dollars".

21. Section 36 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(a)

in subsection (1), by the deletion of the words "two thousand five hundred dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"ten thousand dollars"; and

(b) in subsection (2), by the deletion of the words "five hundred dollars, in addition to a fine of twenty-five dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"two thousand dollars, in addition to a fine of one hundred dollars".

22. Section 37 of the principal Ordinance is amended, in subsec- tion (4), by the deletion of the words "the limits within which river steamers ply" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"river trade limits".

23. Section 38 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

of section 38.

(a)

by the deletion of the words "two thousand dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"eight thousand dollars"; and

(8) by the deletion of the words "one thousand dollars" and the

substitution therefor of the following-

"four thousand dollars".

14. Section 40 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(a) in subsection (1)---

(i) by the deletion of the words "appliances and equipment required by the rules for life-saving appliances to be carried” and the substitution therefor of the following-

"appliances and equipment required to be carried by virtue of any rules made by the Minister under section 427 of the principal Act or any regulations made by the Governor in Council under section 37 of this Ordinance relating to the carriage of life-saving appliances"; and (ii) in paragraph (c), by the insertion after the word "rules" of the following-

"or regulations"; and

(b) in subsection (3), by the deletion of the words "two hundred

dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"one thousand dollars”.

Amendment

of section 40.

25. Section 50 of the principal Ordinance is amended by the Amendment deletion of subsection (3) and the substitution therefor of the following of section 90.

"(3) The assessors appointed to such court shall be re- munerated at a rate which shall take account of the amount of work and time occupied by them upon the business of the court and such remuneration shall be determined by the Governor either generally from time to time or specifically in any particular case: Provided that nothing in this subsection shall be construed to authorize the payment of remuneration to any person employed full time in any office of emolument under the Crown.".

26. Section 52 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(4) in subsection (3), by the deletion of the words "five hundred dollars and the substitution therefor of the following-

"one thousand dollars"; and

(6) in subsection (4), by the deletion of the word "Minister" in both places in which it appears and the substitution therefor in each case of the following—

"Governor".
