(1) will cause, or will be likely to cause, a total or partial collapse of any adjoining or other building.

or

(ü) will render, or will be likely to render, any adjoining or other building so dangerous that it will collapse, or be likely to collapse, either totally or partially.

and he is not satisfied that the collapse or the likeli- hood of the collapse, or such danger or the likelihood of such danger to the building, can be avoided; (0) in the case of plans showing piling works, excavation works or foundation works, it appears to him that the carrying out of such works-

(i) will cause, or will be likely to cause, a total or partial collapse of any adjoining or other building.

or

(B) will render, or will be likely to render, an adjoining or other building so dangerous that it will collapse, or be likely to collapse, either totally or partially,

and he is not satisfied that the collapse or the likeli. bood of the collapse, or such danger or the likelihood of such danger to the building, can be avoided.": (c) the insertion therein, after subsection (3), of the following new

subsections-

"(4) The Building Authority may refuse to give his con- seat to the commencement of any building works where appears to bim that the carrying out of the building works-

(a) will cause, or will be likely to cause, a total or partial

collapse of any adjoining or other building. Or

(6) will render, or will be likely to render, any adjoining or other building so dangerous that it will collapse, or be likely to collapse, either totally or partially, of the collapse, or such danger or the likelihood of such danger to the building, can be avoided.

(5) without prejudice to subsection (4), the Building Authority may refuse to give his consent to the commencement of domolition works until he is satisfied that adequate pre- cautions have been taken—

(a) to prevent a collapse, whether total or partial, or the likelihood of such a collapse, of any adjoining or other building; or

(b) to prevent any adjoining or other building becoming so dangerous, or the likelihood of any such building becoming so dangerous, that it will collapse or be likely to collapse, either totally or partially.”.

Section 90 of the principal Ordinance is amended by the Amendment insertion in Columns A and B, respectively, after item 6 in each of section 9C. Column, of the following new item-

"7. Approval of plans

showing, or con- sent to commence, piling works, excavation works or foundation works,

Prescribe conditions subject to which the works may be carried out, being conditions that the Building Authority considers necessary to prevent a collapse, whether total or partial, or the likelihood of such a collapse, of any adjoining or other building or to prevent any adjoining or other building becoming so dangerous, or the likelihood of any such building becoming so dangerous, that it will collapse, either totally or partially.".

4. The principal Ordinance is amended by the addition, after Addition of section 90, of the following new section-

9D. (1) Without prejudice to any other provision of this Ordinance and subject to subsection (2), where-

(a) for the purpose of satisfying the Building Authority that such precautions as are referred to in subsection (5) of section 9B bave been taken; or (b) for the purpose of complying with a condition pre- scribed by the Building Authority under section 9C, the erection of shoring for any building is necessary, the person whose building works or proposed building works necessitate the erection of the shoring is hereby authorized to erect, or cause to be erected, such shoring as may be necessary, and the same may be affixed-

(i) in or to or around the building for which it is erected, or otherwise in relation to that building as the circumstances require; or

(D) with the permission of the Director of Public Works, or an officer of the Public Works Depart- ment authorized in that behalf by the Director of Public Works either by name or by reference to
