An Ordinance to provide for the control of experiments on living

vertebrate animals.

[24th May, 1963.]

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Animals (Control of Short title. Experiments) Ordinance, 1963.

2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires- "academic institution" includes universities, university colleges, hospitals, medical schools, agricultural colleges. farra schools, and any other similar institutions:

"animal" means a living vertebrate animal:

"experiment" means any experiment performed on an animal and

calculated to give pain;

"Licensing Authority" means the Director of Medical and Health

Services:

"licensee” means a person licensed under section 7.
