3. Rule 26 of the principal rules is revoked and replaced by the following-

"Notification of absence of a probationer.

26. Where a probationer is absent without leave from an approved institution, the superintendent thereof shall forthwith notify the Principal Probation Officer and the probation officer entrusted with the supervision of the probationer."

Rules 30 and 31 of the principal rules are amended by the deletion of the word "detained" wherever the same occurs and the substitution therefor of the following—

"in residence".

Rule 35 of the principal rules is amended--

by the deletion of the word "detained" wherever the sam occurs and the substitution therefor of the following-

"in residence"; and

(6) by the deletion in paragraph (4) of the words "a probation officer" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"the superintendent of the insufiption”,

PLACES OF DETENTION (JUVENILE OFFENDERS) APPOINTMENT, 1963,

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Juvenile Offenders Ordinance, the Commissioner of Police has made the following Appointment-

1. This Appointment may be cited as the Places of Detention Citation. (Juvenile Offenders) Appointment, 1963.

2. The Commissioner of Police has appointed with effect from Appointment 26th day of March, 1963, the Begonia Road Boys Home situate at of places of Begonia Road, Yau Yat Chuen, Kowloon, as a place of detention for detention.

Explanatory Note.

(This Note is not part of the ruder, but is intended to indicate their general purport).

The purpose of these rules is to amend the Probation of Offender Rules, 1958 to enable them to conform more accurately to the spirit and purpose a probation orders and to give the superintendent of an approved institution under those rules more specific power to grant to a probationer leave of absence.
