Explanatory Note,

(This Note is not part of the by-laws, but is intended so indicâte their general purport).

The purpose of these by-laws is two-fold-

(a) to exclude the storing of fish from the category of offensive trades which must be carried on within a delineated area; but to include the processing of sharks' fins; and

(6) to postpone the date on which paragraph (1) of by-law 4 shall apply to businesses which were being carried on at the commencement of the principal by-laws, until such time as the area, which it is intended should be set aside for this purpose, is ready for occupation. VENTILATION (AMENDMENT) BY-LAWS. 1962,

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 88 of the Public Health and Urban Services Ordinance, 1960, the Urban Council bas made the following by-laws-

1. These by-laws may be cited as the Ventilation (Amendment)} Citation. By-laws, 1962.

2. By-law 4 of the Ventilation By-laws, 1961 (hereinafter referred Amendment

to as the principal by-laws) is amended by-

(a) the insertion, after the word "place", of the following-

"or maintain"; and

(b) the insertion, after the word "placed", of the following- "or maintained".

3. By-law 5 of the principal by-laws is amended by the deletion Amendment

of the words "the erection of and the substitution therefor of the of by-law 5. following-

These by-laws amend the Ventilation By-laws, 1961, so as to make it an offence to maintain any obstruction to the access of light or ventilation to a building or to maintain any structure or fitting that obstructs a window of a building.
