Explanatory Note.

(This Nate is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general purport).

By regulation 5 of these regulations, regulation 25 of the Pepsia Regulations the principal regulations) is amended, consequential on the imple- mentation of the Salaries Commission Report, 1959, to adapt the definitions of "salary" and "pay" to persons who are in receipt of salaries computed on the basis of that report, while retaining the previous definitions in respect of persons who continue to be in receipt of salaries not so computed. By regulation 4. regulations 18. 18A, 188 and 18C of the principal regulations are replaced by a new regulation 18. designed to enable the implementation of this report and any similar report in the future to be taken into account in the compulation of pensions and gratuities, without the necessity of further amendments to the principal regulations. By regulation 6, amendments are made to regulation of the principal regulations consequential on the replacement of regulution 1. 18A, 183 and 18C of the principal regulations. These amendments are pack retrospective to 1st July, 1959, the effective date of implementation of the Salaries Commission Report, 1959,

2 The opportunity has been taken to make a number of other amend ments. By regulation 2, certain powers formerly vested in the Govenor in Council are now vested in the Governor. By regulation 3, a minor correction is made to regulation 9 of the principal regulations. By regulation 7. regulation 29 of the principal regulations is replaced by the new regulation, eaking umended provisions for payment of "gratuities to the dependants of mon pensionable officers. By regulation 8, regulation 33 of the principal regulations is revoked, a corresponding provision having been inserted in the Persians Ordinance. Chapter 89, as ecclion 13A. By regulation 9, the titles of ceram bodies shown in the Schedule are amended to bring them up to date. Regula tion 10 is the customary saving regulation in relation to pensions and gratitis granted before the coming into operation of these regulations.

REGISTRATION OF PERSONS (RE-REGISTRATION) (No. 3) ORDER, 1960.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 of the Registration

of Persons Ordinance. 1960, the Governor has made the following Order-

1. This Order may be cited as the Registration of Persons (Re- citation, registration) (No. 3) Order, 1960.

1. Every person specified in the Schedule is required to register qgain in accordance with the provisions of the Registration of Persons Ordinance, 1960, and regulations made thereunder,

SCHEDULE.

Every holder of an Identity card which bears a registration number in the series 40,001 to 65,000, and the family, if any, of such holder.
