BY HIS EXCELLENCY SIR ROBERT BROWN BLACK, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vicc-Admiral of the same.

WHEREAS by section I of the Pearl Culture (Control) Ordinance, 1958 (No. 26 of 1958), it is provided that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the Governor by Proclamu- tion in the Gazette:

NOW THEREFORE, I, ROBERT BROWN BLACK, do hereby PROCLAIM that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on the 15th day of May, 1959.

GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Hong Kong this 12th day of May, 1959.
