PREVENTION OF THE SPREAD OF INFECtious DiseasES REGULATIONS, 1955-
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Quarantine and Prevention of Disease Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-
1.
PART 1.
General.
These regulations may be cited as the Prevention of the Citation, Spread of Infectious Diseases Regulations, 1955-

2. In these regulations the following words and expressions Interpre- shall, except where the context otherwise requires, have the meanings hereby respectively assigned to them-
"carrier" means any person in whose body is carried the germs
of an infectious disease;
"contact" means any person who has been exposed to the risk of infection of an infectious disease whether from humans or animals or birds;
"conveyance" includes all vessels, and all conveyances used
wholly or in part for the carriage of freight;
"infectious" means capable of transmitting an infectious disease; "infectious disease" means any of the following diseases, namely, plague, cholera, smallpox, yellow fever, typhus, cerebro- spinal meningitis, measles, chickenpox, diphtheria, puerperal fever, scarlet fever, rabies, enteric, dysentery, tuberculosis, relapsing fever, whooping cough, acute poliomyelitis (infantile paralysis) and malaria, and any other disease which the Governor in Council shall by notification in the Gazette declare to be included within the said expression; "sick person" means a person suffering from an infectious disease.
