Urban Council Elections (Registration of Electors)
REGULATIONS, 1955-
In exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (1) of section 23 of the Urban Council Ordinance, 1955, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-
1. These regulations may be cited as the Urban Council Elections (Registration of Electors) Regulations, 1955.

2. (1) The register shall include the names of all persons who on the previous 1st day of July, were qualified to be registered as electors in accordance with the provisions of sections 15, 16 and 17 of the Ordinance, and whose names have been so registered.
(3) The register shall be divided into the same number of separate parts as there are polling stations and each part shail contain the names of all electors entitled to vote at the polling station in respect of which that part has been compiled.
(3) Each part of the register shall be arranged in alphabetical order of English version of surnames and, where there is more than one elector of the same surname, of fore-names.
(4) Each entry on the register shall contain the following particulars-
(a) electoral number in order in each section, prefixed by
a letter denoting the particular polling station;
(b) the letter 31 or F denoting the sex of the elector: (c) the surname and fore-names of the elector in English or, if there are more than two fore-names, the first fore-name and the initial letters of the other fore-names which shall be the same as appears on the elector's identity card (if any);
(d) the surname and fore-names of the elector in Chinese characters if Chinese which shall be the same as appears on the clector's identity card (if any);
(e) the residential address of the elector:
( the qualification of the elector which shall be indicated by reference to the paragraph of section 15 of the Ordinance under which the elector is qualified.
(5) Save and except for the names in Chinese the register shall be prepared only in English.
(6) The register shall be in accordance with Form of the Form 1. Appendix or as near thereto as shall be convenient,

(1) The registration officer shall cause to be made Notice of available free of charge at all reasonable times throughout the application year at his office and at all post offices and at such other places gistration. throughout the Colony as he shall deem necessary, forms of application to be placed on the register in accordance with Form Form 2, 2 of the Appendix,
(2) Such forms shall include spaces for the following-
(a) identity card number (if any);
(b) full name, surname lirst, as same appears on the appli-
cant's identity card (if any):
(c) residential address;
(d) ground for qualification;
(e) listed polling station at which applicant prefers to vote.

(1) As soon as is practicable after the 1st day of July Designation and in any case not later than the 14th day of July in each year fins
of polling the registration officer in consultation with the returning officer shall designate the places to be used as polling stations.
() A list of such polling stations shall be available for inspection at his office at all times thereafter.
