An Ordinance to amend and consolidate the law relating to the

construction of buildings,

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-

1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Buildings Short title Ordinance, 1953. and shall come into operation on a day to be and com- appointed by the Governor by proclamation in the Gazette.

(2) (2) This Ordinance shall apply to the island of Hong

Kong, Aplichau, Kowloon and New Kowloon.

(5) The Governor in Council may by order apply the same to the New Territories (not including New Kowloon) or any part thereof at such time and subject to such modi- fications and exemptions as he may from time to time deem fit.
