(1) Section 30(c) is repealed.
"
(iii) Section 31 ia amended by the deletion of the words " and in the case of a clerk or servant or person employed for the purpose or in the capacity of a clerk or vervant, if a male under the age of sixteen years, to be once privately whipped in addition to any other punishment to which he may by law be liable".
(v) Section 40(1) is amended by the deletion of the words and, in addition, if a male, to be once privately' whipped",
(v) Sections 46(1) and 54 are amended by the deletion, in cach, of the words “, and, if a male, under the age of sixteen years, to be once privately whipped in addition to BNY ether punishment to which he may by law be liable.
(vi) Sectiona 62(1)(c) and 62(3) are repealed.
Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22(1), 26, 28, 20, 30, 31, 32, 38, 44, 30 and 40 are amended by the deletion of the words , and, if a male under the age of sixteen year, with or without whipping".

An Ordinance to amend the Magistrates Ordinance, Chapter 227.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-

This Ordinance may be cited as the Magistrates (Amend- Short title. ment) (No. a) Ordinance, 1954-
2.
Section ga of the Magistrates Ordinance (hereinafter Repeal and referred to as the principal Ordinance) is repealed and replaced of section

by the following section-
(Cap. 227).
"82. (1) Whenever any person is convicted by a magistrate of any crime involving the larceny of any chattel, money or valuable security from the person of any woman or child, the magistrate may, in addition to any other punish- ment awarded for the offence, direct that the offender, if a male, be once whipped.
