(iii) Section 31 is amended by the deletion of the words and in the case of a clerk or servant or person employed for the purpose or in the capacity of a clerk or servant, if a male under the age of sixteen years, to be once privately whipped in addition to any other punishment to which he may by law be liable".

Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22(1), 26, 28, 20, 30, 31, 32, 33, 84, 80 and 40 are amended by the deletion of the words ", and, if a male under the age of sixteen years, with or without whipping".

Section 12 and the Second Schedule are repealed.

An Ordinance to amend the Magistrates Ordinance, Chapter 227.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-

1. This Ordinance may be eited as the Magistrates (Amend- Short title. ment) (No. a) Ordinance, 1954-

replacement

Section 92 of the Magistrates Ordinance (hereinafter Repeal and referred to as the principal Ordinance) is repealed and replaced of section by the following section-

(Cap. 227).

"82. (1) Whenever any person is convicted by a magistrate of any crime involving the larceny of any chattel, money or valuable security from the person of any woman or child, the magistrate may, in addition to any other punish- ment awarded for the offence, direct that the offender, if a male, be once whipped.
