THE EMERGENCY (Squatter Clearance) ReguLATIONS, 1953-

In exercise of the powers conferred by section a of the Emergency Regulations Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations
1. These regulations may be cited as the Emergency Citation, (Squatter Clearance) Regulations, 1953.
2. In these regulations-

"building authority" has the meaning assigned by section a of
the Buildings Ordinance;
(Cap. 123).
"lease" includes an agreement for a lease;
**unlawful structure" means......
(a) any temporary or permanent structure or part thereof
erected or maintained-
(1) without lawful authority on Crown land,
(ii) otherwise than in accordance with the terms of the lease or permit on land field on lease or permit from the Crown,
(ii) without the authority of the lessee or permittee on
land held on lease or permit from the Crown,
(iv) without the approval of the building authority in
cases where such approval is required, or
(v) by a squatter;
(b) any cave or tunnel occupied by a squatter or other person
without lawful authority,

A competent authority shall be a person appointed by Competent name or office by the Governor in writing for the purposes of authority. these regulations. Any such appointment may be made in res-
pect of the whole or any part of the Colony but shall be deemed to extend to the whole of the Colony unless otherwise expressed.
