SECOND COLUMN.

(1) Section 3 is amended by the insertion after paragraph (0) of subsection (1) of an additional paragraph numbered (oo) as follows-

"(oo) prescribing that a contravention of a regulation made hereunder shall be an offence and prescribing penal- ties therefor: Provided that no penalty so prescribed shall exceed the penalty prescribed by subsection (1) of section 23 for offences against Part 11."

(2) Section 23 is amended by the deletion in the third and fourth lines of subsection (1) of the words and bracket "or any regulations made under this Part)" and the insertion of a bracket after the expression section 22" in the third line thereof.

(1) The long title is repealed and replaced by the

following-

"An Ordinance to provide for the remis sion of taxes duties rates and other charges paid or payable by trade commissioners and assistant trade commissioners in certain cases and for purposes ancillary thereto."

(2) Section a is amended by the addition after the definition of the term "Trade Commissioner" of the following-

"tax" includes an assessment, valuation, levy, rate or other similar charge.'

Section 14 (as re-enacted by Ordinance No. 10 of 1950) is amended by the insertion after the word "assessment" in the second line of the proviso thereto of the following-

"prior to the year of assessment 1950/51,". (2) Section 43 is amended by the insertion after the word "assessment" in the second line of sub- section (3) of the following-

"prior to the year of assessment 1950/51,".

(3) Section 44 (as re-enacted by Ordinance No. 10 of 1950) is amended by the insertion after the word "assessment" in the second line of the proviso thereto of the following-

"prior to the year of assessment 1950/51,".

(3) Section 3 is amended-

(a) by the addition after the words "the Governor' in the first line of the follow- ing-

"in such manner as he shall think fit";

(b) by the addition after the word "payable" in the second line of the following--

"or paid";

(c) by the addition after the word "remitted"

in the third line of the following-

"and where necessary refunded”;

(d) by the addition after the word "payable" In the fourth line of the following-

"or has been paid''.
