**(ee) "Government Chemist" shall mean the person so appointed by the Governor and shall include such other
person as the Director of Medical and Health Services may appoint to carry out duties under this Ordinance;".

2A. (1) During the absence or inability to act of the Commissioner of tendent and Prisons the superintendent of prisons of most seniority shall unless and until to superin- the vacancy is filled whether temporarily or otherwise exercise the powers and discretions vested in such Commissioner and discharge the duties required to be discharged by him whether such powers discretions or duties accrue under this Ordinance or otherwise.
(a) Whether or not the Com- missioner of Prisons is present and able to act, a superintendent of prisons shall exercise such powers and discretions and discharge such duties under this Ordin- ance as such Commissioner may delegate to him."
(2) Section 17 is amended by the addition after the second line of subsection (1) of the follow- ing-
"the admission and discharge of prisoners,"
