The Attorney General to move the following resolution 1-

WHEREAS by Rosolution made and passed by this Honourable Council on

the 3rd December, 1947, pursuant to section 3 of the Dutiable Commodities Ordinumae, 1931, it is provided that the provisions of the solà ordinanou except Parts II, III and IV thereof shall apply to proprietary medicines and toilot preparations ;

AND WHEREAS by paragraph of Resolution mode and passed by thia

Honourable Council on the date aforesaid purament to seotion 4 of the Ordinance aforesaid as amended by Reaolution nude and passed as aforesaid on the 20th July, 1949, provision was mide for the oatoulation of the Hong Kong dollar equivalent of certain foreign currencies ;

AND WHERDAS by section 4 of the said Ordinance it is provided that this Council may from time to time by resolution inpose any duty on any dutiable goods or any class of dutinblo gooda, and lover, increase, duorecse or vary any such duty to my extent whatever

IND WHEREAS the Hong Kong dollar equivalents afores id here in fuot

varied from time to time since the cnid datea ;

NOT THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED under section 4 of the Ordinace

aforesaid that in respect of importation of proprietary mediales and toilet preparations after the d-te hereof the rate for the purpose of caloulating the Hong Kong dollar equivalent of foreign currencies in conquetion with the duty payable on toilet preparations and proprietary modicinos shall in all a sos bo the official rate of exchange prevailing at the date of paying duty on my such importation the said robo for the purpose of paloulating the Hong Kong dollar equivalent of foreign aurrenatos boing substituted for the provision mode as aforesztà in paragraph 3 of the Resolution of this Council of the 3rd Documber, 1947, amended as aforesaid.
