An Ordinailce to make provision for the control of accommodation

provided by and charges made by hotels.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof;

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Hotels Ordinance, Short titla.

In this Ordinance-

"charge" includes any valuable consideration and any promiss to do any act or perform any service passing to or to pass from or made or to be made by the person upon whom the charge is levied or attempted to be imposed;

"'contravene" includes a failure to comply;

"hotel" includes a boarding house and every place where any person is harboured or lodged for any kind of rent, hire or reward but shall not include any place where no service other than the provision of accommodation and furniture is rendered upon the premisas occupied by the person so harboured or lodged;

"manager"' means, in the case of any person registered

as the manager of a hotel pursuant to regulations made under this Ordinance or under the Boarding House Ordinance, 1917, such Ordinance person, and if there is no such person, or in the absence of any No. 27 of such person, then the person who is in fact in control whether on his own account or for any other person of the management of the hotel;
