An Ordinance to give affect to an agreement negotiated by His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and the Chinese National Government on behalf of the Hong Kong Government and the Chinese Maritime Customs, respectively.

WHEREAS by an agreement negotiated by His Majesty'a Government in the United Kingdom and the Chinese National Government on behalf of the Hong Kong Government and the Chinese Maritime Customs, respectively, being an agreement annexed to notes exchanged on the 12th of January, 1948, between His Majesty's Ambassador to China and the Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs, it was agreed that the Government of Hong Kong should introduce legislation to give effect to such agreement.
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof:
1. Thia Ordinance may be cited as the Smuggling into Ching Shart tide. (Control) Ordinance, 1948.

2. In this Ordinance the expressions "junk", "magistrate", Interpretutina. "master". "tona", "tonnage", and " "vessel” shall, save where the context otherwise requires, bear the meanings respectively assigned to them by the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, and Ordinance "Harbour" has the meaning assigned to it by the Interpretation [899- Ordinance, 1911.
