An Ordinance to provide for the payment of pensions or gratuities to certain officers of the Police Force who have elected to retire in circumstances which would not other- wise entitle them to pension or gratuity.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Police Force short title. (Retirement of Certain Officers) Ordinance, 1947, and shall
be construed and take effect as one with the Police Force Ordinatio
No. 37 of Ordinance, 1932, and the Regulations made thereunder. 1032.

2. Subject to the provisions of the Police Force Granting of Ordinance, 1982, and Regulations made thereunder, except pansion or in so far as the provisions of section 3 of this Ordinance are otwith inconsistent therewith, it shall be lawful to grant a pension

ne provided in section 3 to any European officer of police No. 37 of who by notice in writing addressed to the Secretary of State or the Commissioner of Police prior to the 15th day of July, 1947, elected subject to the award of pension or gratuity to retire from the Police Force.
3. Notwithstanding that he has not reached the ago Computa of 45 nor completed fifteen years of service, an officer of police tion of to whom the provisions of section 2 hereof apply-
(a) if he bas served in the Police Force for 10 years or upwards, may be awarded on his retirement a pensión at the rate of 14/50ths of his salary at the date of bis retirement with an addition of 1/600th in respect of each complete month of service in excess of ten years and with a further addition of 1/600th in respect of each complete month of service beyond 20 years until the maximum pension of two- thirds of his salary reached; or
