An Ordinance to provide for the remission of taxes, duties and fees to which consuls and consular officials may be subjected when payment of such moneys is in conflict with the privileges of their office.

Bs it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong with the advice and consent of the legislative Council thereof, as follows ****
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Consulne Privileges Ordinance, 1947.
2. "Consul" means A person recognised by the Governor as being a "consul general, consul or vice consul or consular agent;
''consular official" means a person not being a consul who is employed upon the staff of any consulate.

The Governor may direct that any tax, duty or fee payable by a consul e consular official under the law of the Colony as from time to time amended may be remitted when fo in the opinion of the Governor such tex, duty or fee is payable by a person to whom and in respect of a matter from which exemption should be granted by reason of the treatment in like matters accorded to His Majesty's consular staff by the State represented by or which employs such consul or consular
official.
