An Ordinance to amend the Jury Ordinance, 1887.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Jury Amend. Stort title. ment Ordinance, 1947, and shall be read as one with the Jury Ordinance, 1887, hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinace Ordinance.

2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended by the deletion of the word "men" appearing therein and by the substitution therefor of the word "persons'

3. Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is hereby Amendment amended as follows:-

(a) by the deletion of the word "male" appearing in the Ordinance, first line thereof; and

(b) by the deletion of the words "is not ignorant" appearing in the fourth and fifth lines thereof and by the substitution therefor of the words "who, to the satisfaction

4. Section of the principal Ordinance is hereby Amendmeat amended by the insertion therein of the following sub-section

as sub-section (11A) after sub-section (11) :---

5. Sub-section (1) of section of the principal Amendment Ordinance is hemby repealed and replaced as follows !---

**(1) The two lists, when finally settled by the Ordinance. Governor in Council, shall be returned to the Registrar who shall cause them to be published in the Gazette. The lists shall be brought into use on the 1st day of March next following, or on such day as may be ordered by the Governor".
