A PROCLAMATION TO DETERMINE BRITISH

MILITARY ADMINISTRATION,

WHEREAS after the surrender of the Japanese a Military Administration was established by Proclamation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Forces of His Britannic Majesty in the Colony,

Was

AND WHEREAS by or under divers other Proclamations provision made for the exercise of judicial executive and legislative powers by or by the authority of such Administration,

AND WHEREAS the necessity for the prevention and suppression of dis- order and the maintenance of public safety otherwise than in accordance with the law applicable to the Colony no longer exists and conditions permit the Adminis- tration of the Government of the Colony by the lawfully constituted authority,

AND WHEREAS the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony bas now returned,

NOW, I CECIL HALLIDAY JEPSON HARCOURT, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath. Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Vice Admiral in His Britannic Majesty's Fleet and Commander- in-Chlef of His Britannic Majesty's Forces in Hong Kong, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM:

ARTICLE 1.

CESSATION OF BRITISHI MILITARY ADMINISTRATION.

The British Military Administration established by the aforementioned Pro- clamation shall cease and determine as from the promulgation of this Proclamation.

ARTICLE 2.

POWERS ASSUMED BY PROCLAMATION TO CEASE UNLESS LAWFULLY CONTINUED.

The powers assumed by or under any Proclamation of the said. British Mili- tary Administration shall cease and determine save in go far as they may be con- tinued with or without any modifications by the lawfully constituted authority for the Colony.

SHORT TITLE.

ARTICLE 3.

This Proclamation may be cited as the British Military Administration (Cessation) Proclamation.
