TECHNOLOGIES FOR

THE STUDY, AT A COST OF $8.6 MILLION, WILL BE COMPLETED IN MONTHS AND INITIAL FINDINGS ARE EXPECTED BY THE END OF THE YEAR.

GENEVA MEETING TO DISCUSS REPATRIATION OF VIETNAMESE

COMMENTING ON PRESS REPORTS OF POSSIBLE PLANS TO REVIVE THE NON-OBJECTOR REPATRIATION SCHEME FOR VIETNAMESE MIGRANTS, THE REFUGEE CO-ORDINATOR,

BRIAN BRESNIHAN, TODAY (THURSDAY) SAID THERE WAS NOTHING NEW IN THIS CONCEPT.

"IT WAS EXAMINED IN THE PAST AND THERE WAS A NON-OBJECTOR FLIGHT IN 1990, HE SAID.

"IN THAT CONTEXT, DIFFERENT MODES OF REPATRIATION ARE LIKELY TO BE DISCUSSED," HE ADDED.

ASKED WHETHER HONG KONG WOULD INTRODUCE A NON-OBJECTÒR REPATRIATION SCHEME, MR BRESNIHAN SAID THIS QUESTION WAS PREMATURE AND THE ANSWER WOULD

OF CLEARLY DEPEND ON THE OUTCOME GENEVA.
