WITH ESTIMATED AT $11,700 MILLION, INCREASED BY 19.3% WHEN COMPARED

ACCORDING TO THE PROVISIONAL FINDINGS OF THE NOVEMBER NOVEMBER 1990, 1991 ROUND OF THE MONTHLY RETAIL SALES SURVEY RELEASED TODAY (FRIDAY) BY THE CENSUS AND STATISTICS DEPARTMENT.

AFTER ADJUSTING

THE FOR PRICE INCREASES OVER RETAIL SALES ROSE BY 12.7% IN VOLUME TERMS.

SALES WERE UP BY 32% IN VALUE AND 39% IN VOLUME. THERE WAS

THE FALL IN PRICES OF THESE VALUABLE ITEMS, CONTRIBUTING TO INCREASE IN THE SPENDING ON SUCH COMMODITIES.

SALES IN RETAIL OUTLETS SELLING CLOTHING, FOOTWEAR AND PRODUCTS WENT UP BY 32% IN VALUE AND 21% IN VOLUME.

ALLIED

SPENDING ON CONSUMER DURABLE GOODS INCREASED BY SIMILAR

INCREASE MAGNITUDES, 25% IN VALUE AND 19% IN VOLUME. THE RAPID MAINLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO AN INCREASE IN SALES OF MOTOR VEHICLES.

SALES IN SUPERMARKETS AND DEPARTMENT STORES SHOWED LESS INCREASES, BY 9% AND 2% IN VOLUME RESPECTIVELY.
