ON THE SAME BASIS OF COMPARISON, CONSUMER DURABLES INCREASED BY IN SALES VOLUME, SEVEN PER CENT IN SALES VALUE AND THREE PER CENT WHILE SALES OF CLOTHING, FOOTWEAR AND ALLIED PRODUCTS ROSE BY FOUR PER CENT IN VALUE BUT DROPPED BY THREE PER CENT IN VOLUME.

RETAIL SALES OF OTHER CONSUMER GOODS INCREASED BY TWO PER IN VALUE BUT DECREASED BY THREE PER CENT IN VOLUME.
