DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY COURSE FOR TEACHERS

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SERVING NON-GRADUATE TEACHERS OF TECHNICAL SUBJECTS TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILL IN TEACHING DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY IS BEING OFFERED FOR THE FIRST TIME BY THE HONG KONG TECHNICAL TEACHERS' COLLEGE IN ACADEMIC YEAR 1981/82.

APPLICATIONS WHICH WILL CLOSE ON APRIL 16, ARE NOW BEING INVITED FOR THE ONE-YEAR FULL-TIME SUPPLEMENTARY COURSE. SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS, SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL HAVE THE IR COURSE FEES WAIVED IN ADDITION TO RECEIVING FULL PAY DURING STUDY.

CIRCULARS GIVING DETAILS OF THE COURSE AND OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION HAVE BEEN SENT TO ALL SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

+APPLICANTS MUST BE NON-GRADUATE TEACHERS SERVING IN AIDED SECONDARY SCHOOLS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED TWO YEARS FULL-TIME TRAINING IN TEACHING TECHNICAL SUBJECTS.

+PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE TWO-YEAR FULL-TIME POST-TRAINING TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND HAVE RECEIVED SOME TRAINING IN TEACHING DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY, AN EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SPOKESMAN SAID.

EACH APPLICATION MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RECOMMENDATION FROM THE SUPERVISOR OF THE APPLICANT'S SCHOOL TOGETHER WITH A GUARANTEE THAT THE TEACHER WILL BE GIVEN A POST IN THE SCHOOL ON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE ASKED TO ACKNOWLEDGE, IN WRITING, WILLINGNESS TO ATTEND THE COURSE AND TO SIGN AN UNDERTAKING TO TEACH FULL-TIME IN HONG KONG SCHOOLS, ON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE, FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN THREE YEARS.

+GOVERNMENT WILL BE PREPARED TO PAY THE SALARY OF A TEMPORARY TEACHER TO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE TEACHER ACCEPTED ON THE COURSE, THE SPOKESMAN SAID.

COMPLETED APPLICATION FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA HEADS OF SCHOOLS TO THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT'S TECHNICAL EDUCATION DIVISION.

THE ONE-YEAR FULL-TIME COURSE WILL HAVE CORE STUDIES IN EDUCATION, EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY, LANGUAGE SKILLS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME WHICH ALL STUDENTS MUST FOLLOW.

IN ADDITION, EACH STUDENT WILL STUDY, IN DEPTH, SUBJECTS RELATED TO TEACHING DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY IN FORMS 1 TO 1.
