Morbidity

A certain amount of tuberculin testing has been done over the past 3 or 4 years, rather sporadically as circumstances have permitted, principally among school children, The method used has principally been, for the sake of simplicity, the Wollmer Patch Test read 72 hours after application. The results of these surveys have been consolidated and are presented below :

In view of the fact that testing has been done by Wollmer patch test the results obtained in children 12 years and upwards must be interpreted with considerable reserve, The results shown among the younger children give a fair reflection of the amount of infection in the community.

At the same time tuberculin testing has been done as a routine measure among children under 8 years of age who are contacts of known cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, again done by Patch Test. This practice has been in operation since March, 1949. Breakdown into age groups has not been done.

The total results of these examinations are as follows :-
